Membership

Blocks of Joy welcomes all sorts of members and volunteers:

 Membership to the Blocks of Joy Foundation is open to individuals who share a commitment to our mission statement and are dedicated to contributing to our cause. Our membership welcomes all levels of woodworkers, as well as volunteers who wish to donate their time or resources, to join our community of compassionate supporters.  To join, email memberhsip@blocksofjoy.org.

Our Members are a network of like minded people who want to make contributions to better the future of our children.  Some benefits include:

1. Collaborative Community: As a member of the Blocks of Joy Foundation, you become part of a collaborative community of woodworkers, volunteers, and like-minded individuals who are passionate about enriching the lives of children. 
2. Meaningful Impact: By joining, you actively contribute to our mission, making a meaningful difference in the lives of underprivileged toddlers by providing building blocks, educational toys, and furniture. Your involvement helps shape their future.
3. Networking and Collaboration: Engage in networking opportunities with fellow woodworkers, volunteers, and professionals within the community. Collaborate on projects, share expertise, and exchange ideas to further advance our cause.
4. Recognition and Appreciation: Members will receive recognition for their contributions and dedication, acknowledging their support both within our community and through public acknowledgment of their membership.
5. Volunteering: Members have the opportunity to volunteer their time, skills, or resources, contributing directly to the success of our programs and initiatives. Your involvement helps create a positive impact on the children and communities we serve.  Because we are recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)3, if your company offers volunteer time, you can do it with us.
6.  Donations:  Members can make charitable donations directly to other charitable organizations, or children, on behalf of the Blocks of Joy Foundation.   

Our membership welcomes all levels of woodworkers, as well as volunteers who wish to donate their time or resources, to join our community of compassionate supporters.  Membership to the foundation is free, unless you want to have an email address ending in @blocksofjoy.org.

• The Builders: This level represents the foundational membership, where individuals can join the foundation for free and actively contribute by building wooden blocks or other toys/furniture to donate to the organization, or make donations on behalf of the organization. 
• The Benefactors: This level recognizes individuals who make direct donations to or on behalf of the organization, either in the form of financial contributions or by purchasing toys/furniture to be donated. 
• The Guardian: This level represents individuals or organizations that provide substantial support to the foundation, either through large financial contributions or significant donations of toys/furniture. 
• The Artistic Visionary:  Artists who want to support the foundation's mission but may not specialize in woodworking. These members contribute their artistic talents by creating printable artwork that can be sold to raise funds for the organization.
• The Digital Frontiersman:  These individuals leverage their skills in web development, digital marketing, or online communication to support the foundation's advocacy efforts through building and enhancing the organization's website and online presence.

 Membership requirements:  We do have a few requirements for membership in the Blocks of Joy Foundation.   

•  Safety Commitment: 

1.  All members shall prioritize the safety of children when creating and donating toys, ensuring they meet or exceed applicable safety standards and regulations. 
2.  Members shall use materials that are non-toxic, durable, and suitable for children's use, minimizing potential hazards. 
3.  It is the responsibility of each member to thoroughly inspect their donated toys for any potential safety issues or defects before contributing them to the organization. 

•  Good Standing in the Community: 

1.  Members are expected to maintain a positive and respectful relationship with the local community, fostering goodwill and promoting the foundation's mission in a responsible manner. 
2. All members shall abide by local laws, regulations, and ethical standards while representing the foundation or engaging in activities related to the organization.
3. Any conflicts or disputes arising between members and the community should be handled diplomatically, seeking resolution through constructive dialogue and cooperation. 

•  Positive Presence and Behavior: 

1. Members shall conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the foundation, both online and offline, and avoids any actions that may bring disrepute to the organization or compromise its mission. 
2. It is expected that members will engage in respectful and inclusive communication, refraining from any form of discrimination, harassment, or offensive behavior. 
3. Members shall refrain from making any false or misleading claims about the foundation, its activities, or the impact of its initiatives.
